    There are several steps Glendora community members can take to reduce or stop unsolicited newspapers, mailers, and flyers being delivered to their homes:

    1. Contact the Publishers Directly

    • Look for the name and contact info on the newspaper or mailer.
    • Call or email them and politely request to be removed from their delivery list.
    • For free local newspapers, most have a distribution department that can process "opt-out" requests.

    2. Post a Notice

    • Post a clear sign near your mailbox or front door that says something like:
      • “No soliciting, no free newspapers or flyers, please.”


    3. Register with Opt-Out Services

    • For junk mail in general:
      • DMAchoice.org – Opt out of many national advertising mailings.
      • OptOutPrescreen.com– Stop pre-approved credit and insurance offers.
        • Note: These services won’t affect local or unaddressed flyers.

    4. Speak with the Delivery Person

    • If you catch them in the act, politely ask them to skip your address. Some local delivery people keep personal lists of “do not deliver” homes.


    5. Report Persistent Violators

    • If a publisher ignores your opt-out request, you can:
      • File a complaint with the City of Glendora Code Preservation team at (626)852-4825 or email Community_Preservation@CityOfGlendora.gov.
        • While the Glendora Municipal Code may not specifically prohibit the delivery of unsolicited newspapers or flyers, persistent unwanted deliveries could be considered a public nuisance, especially if they result in littering or obstruct public pathways.
      • File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau or local consumer affairs office.

    Per a report to be given at the Community Services Commission meeting on May 15, 2025, the South Hills Bike Park project continues to move forward through critical design and environmental milestones. On August 27, 2024, the Council approved a contract with Avid Trails to complete the Design Development and Construction Documents. Avid Trails has completed design development, with construction drawings on track for completion by June 2025. Duke Cultural Resources Management finalized the cultural assessment, identifying no adverse effects to historic properties. IMEG’s geotechnical report supports the site’s suitability for the proposed improvements. Alta Planning + Design has submitted conceptual grading and drainage plans that are being reviewed by the City.

    On May 9, 2023, the City Council approved a resolution supporting the application for the Land and Water Conservation Fund grant in connection with the South Hills Bike Park project. In December 2023, California State Parks announced recommendations to the National Parks Service for $35.6 million in Land and Water Conservation Fund grants for 16 local park projects, which included the City of Glendora’s South Hills Bike Park Project.  

    Environmental review under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) is underway as of May 2025, with PlaceWorks selected from the City’s on-call consultant list.  Some required documentation has already been submitted to the National Park Service (NPS) for the federal grant while the environmental review is still in progress.

    Given current timelines, construction is anticipated to begin in early 2026, contingent on the completion of CEQA and NPS review.

    Yes, a building permit is required to add a new door to an exterior wall of your home. This type of modification involves structural and energy code considerations that must be reviewed and approved prior to construction.

    Rooms or dwellings that are rented for a period of less than 30 days must obtain a business license and are subject to the City’s temporary occupancy tax (TOT) and short-term rental standards.

    Renting a room for a term more than 30 days is allowed. The owner may rent two rooms within a single-family dwelling. Renting three or more rooms is not permitted.

    Creating an accessory dwelling unit, or junior accessory dwelling unit within the existing space of a single-family dwelling is allowed.  Accessory dwelling units (ADU) are fully independent dwelling units that require full kitchens, bathing and sanitation facilities. Building permits are required to convert space or construct an ADU. A junior accessory dwelling unit (JADU) is limited to 500 square feet and contained entirely within the walls of a single-family residence. JADU’s also require that the property owner reside in either the JADU or main dwelling.

    To start a towing company in the City of Glendora, you will need both a Business License and a Zoning Verification Certificate.  Begin by visiting the City’s web portal at CityOfGlendora.gov/BusinessLicense, then complete and submit the necessary forms.   

    Upon submission of the application along with the form, the City will review your business proposal. After review, you will receive an invoice for any applicable taxes and fees. Once the payment is processed and the City has approved your business, a certificate will be issued, allowing you to proceed with operations.

    The City of Glendora partners with HdL Companies to process business licenses.  If you have any questions about licensing or require further assistance, please contact HdL at (626) 376-4678.

    Glendora parks are open to the public year-round during daylight hours (dusk-dawn), with signage posted to remind visitors.  

    Some park facilities offer lighting to extend activities later into the evening, such as Louie Pompei Memorial Sports Park (reservation only), or basketball or tennis courts at a number of parks throughout the City. Activities in the lighted areas is allowed until the lights turn out.

    The Parks and Landscape Division is responsible for the management of approximately 16,000 City trees. The Urban Forest consists of more than 18,000 trees located at city owned facilities, parks, landscaped properties, and within the public right of way on streets and highways. 

    Funding for tree planting is dependent on current fiscal budgeting.  When planting new trees the city looks at the viability of planting a specific type of tree in specific areas. Viability shall be based on the following criteria:

    • Adequate space available to allow for unimpeded growth
    • Adequate line-of-site visibility for vehicles and pedestrians
    • Adequate and consistent water source available to tree

    Residents and visitors to the community must obtain an approved Special Event Permit and Event Insurance before using City roadways or City-owned parks or facilities for an event.   Approval of and coordinating use of public roadways would be under review of City Departments, such as Police, Finance, and possibly others.  Community members are encouraged to visit the City’s website for more information at CityOfGlendora.gov/SpecialEventPermit or call the Finance or Police Departments with any questions.

    The urban trails proposed along the flood control channels in Glendora are part of a larger initiative known as the Glendora People Movement Project. This project includes three urban trails along San Dimas Wash, Little Dalton Wash, and Big Dalton Wash, as well as first/last mile improvements designed to make walking and biking to the new Glendora Metro A-Line Station safer, more enjoyable, and more efficient.

    In total, the project will bring over 10 miles of active transportation infrastructure to the City. Key features include:

    • Fully separated bicycle and pedestrian paths
    • Protected bike lanes and intersections
    • A roundabout
    • Enhanced pedestrian crossings


    Project Updates (as of January 2025):

    • The first segment of the San Dimas Wash Trail—from Louie Pompei Memorial Sports Park to Sunflower Avenue—has been completed.
    • Construction of the remaining portion, extending from Sunflower Avenue to the Covina border at Arrow Highway and Grand Avenue, is expected to begin in 2025.
    • Design plans for the first/last mile improvements at Glendora Avenue and Foothill Boulevard are progressing.
    • The Little Dalton Wash and Big Dalton Wash Urban Trails are currently on hold as the City prioritizes the completion of the San Dimas Wash Trail and first/last mile improvements.

    The City of Glendora contracts with Athens Services to provide solid waste collection and disposal services for the residents and businesses in Glendora. The City's Public Works Department administers these services in coordination with Athens Services. For more information on services provided, regulations concerning solid waste collection and disposal, including the State's strategies for trash, recycling and organics, visit the City's website at CityOfGlendora.gov/WasteCollection
