Britannica School contains a history of refrigeration, including early artificial methods in the 1700s and 1800s.  

Gale in Context contains more extensive information and background.

Thank you for reaching out.  There are 2 options for homework help

• HelpNow live online tutoring is available daily from 1pm-10pm for math, science, English, and social studies.  You will need a Library card to access.  If you don't have one, get started with an eCard today.
• Homework Buddies is a homework help program for students K-6th grade.  Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30pm-5pm in the Library Friends Room. Help is provided by high school students.  Please ensure that students bring their homework assignments.

Thank you for reaching out.  There are 2 ways to obtain a Library card.

• You can apply for a digital card that will give you access to all eLibrary, digital resources available at the Library anytime.  Please visit the Library catalog to get started.  Make sure you record the number on the final screen as that will be your Library card number.
• For a full membership, please bring your picture ID and proof of address to the Library to apply for a Library card.  The process takes just a couple of minutes.  You will have access to physical Library materials and eLibrary materials.

• Online: Visit the Gale in Context through the eLibrary and enter Benjamin Franklin.  If you’re looking to choose a figure, and would like a list of suggestions, Gale's Biography section can help with that too.
• In-Library: Explore the Biography selection. Biographies are arranged in alphabetical order by last name. For adult and high school, look in the center of the main floor. For middle and elementary school, look in the younger readers area. Search the Library online catalog for a listing of books about Benjamin Franklin (or any other person of interest).
