Public Library Nook Demonstration
Nook Pods are designed as sensory-friendly retreats, creating quiet, comfortable spaces to focus, collaborate, or recharge.
Glendora's Public Library staff organized a Nook Pod demonstration to determine how Nook's mobility, and semi-private workspace could improve space utilization and bring additional, inclusive, reservable resources for guests.

by Kris, 10 months agoIs the Nook Pod just an experiment or is there a plan to make it/them permanent. How many are there at the present time?

A Cozy Corner
by C.S., about 1 year agoI've been living in Glendora here for about five years now and I'll frequent the library. One issue I've had though is not being able to find a good spot to sit down to do my work, the best spots usually taken up already. The Book Nook fixes that for me, being a very cozy place where I can set up and focus on my work in peace. I very much hope the library gets more of these.I've been living in Glendora here for about five years now and I'll frequent the library. We need these for our Glendora Library!
by Chantal, about 1 year agoThe teal lamp above was the first thing to catch my eye from across the room. It's warm, inviting, stood out beautifully from the black background, and I love it! When I went to sit, I poked my head in and out a few times and was immediately able to feel the difference in the ambiance. The sound inside the nook was definitely tuned down, even my daughter was shocked as it was the first thing she noticed when she stepped into it. The sound inside the nook was definitely tuned down, even my daughter was shocked as it was the first thing she noticed when she stepped into it. We found ourselves whispering to each other when we spoke because the nook makes us WANT to whisper, it was crazy.
I love the twinkling filament lights on the wall, however they're overpowered by the overhead lights in the library. It would be perfect in a less lit area of the library with the option of a user-controller (dimmable?) reading lamp. The power strip is a nice touch of functionality, too.
The minor things I disliked, which I understand are likely customizable, would be the mismatching wood tone of the table and ledge; I prefer the color of the table; and the plaid upholstered padding. I just don't like plaid, personally.
I can see this being a huge hit for those with sensory sensitivities. 4 or 5 of these throughout the library would likely create a more welcoming space where people would want to spend more time, particularly if there was a handicap accessible option. All I can do now is emphasize how great these little reading nooks are!

Ambiance
by Snow Leopard , about 1 year agoLoved the glow of the turquoise lamp and the twinkling universe background. Creates a sensation of tranquility and relaxation. Easy access to power outlets and a shelf for your refreshments. Perfect for a couple or someone who wants a feeling of solitude. Just the right size. I will be sorry to see it go.
